The First Breakthrough: A $30,000 VR Classroom Launches in Ho Chi Minh City
5 Min Read

March 28, 2022 marked a defining milestone in Hello Science Edu's journey. In partnership with the Korean government and local education authorities, we launched Vietnam's first VR-enabled Smart Classroom at Linh Chiểu Primary School in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The USD 30,000 pilot project was established as part of the Korea–Vietnam education cooperation initiative.
More than just a classroom equipped with tablets, VR headsets, and smart TVs, it represented a new approach to learning. They were no longer limited to static textbooks. Students explored science through immersive VR experiences, interactive digital content, and hands-on activities that transformed abstract concepts into meaningful learning.
“This project doesn't just bring new devices. It changes how we think about teaching.” — Ms. Ta Thi Tuyet Mai, Headmaster, Linh Chiểu Primary School |
The pilot was driven by a simple but ambitious question:
How can technology make education more accessible, engaging, and sustainable for every learner?
From April to May 2022, students from Grades 1 to 5 participated in the program while teachers observed its impact on engagement, participation, and learning outcomes. The results demonstrated that when technology is thoughtfully integrated into teaching, it enhances understanding, strengthens engagement, and creates more meaningful learning experiences.
More importantly, the pilot became the foundation of everything we build today. The lessons learned from real classrooms shaped our vision for an AI Learning Intelligence Platform—one that empowers teachers, personalizes learning, and enables data-driven education at scale.
The first Smart Classroom was more than a pilot. It was proof that the future of education begins with one classroom, one teacher, and one learner at a time.
“Whether it's during regular classes, extracurriculars, or experiential learning — the curriculum must be carefully evaluated. I hope this model will be expanded, not just in Thu Đức, but across all schools in Ho Chi Minh City.” — Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of DoET, Thu Đức City |
The most important lesson from this first VR classroom: technology, when used with intention, can close the gap between theory and reality. Children who had never seen the scientific phenomena they read about in textbooks could now explore, interact, and truly understand them.
The Linh Chiểu classroom was living proof that the future of education Hello Science Edu envisions is not a distant vision. It has already begun, one classroom at a time.
The pilot proved that technology is most powerful when it makes learning meaningful.
By transforming abstract concepts into immersive learning experiences, students were able to explore, interact, and develop a deeper understanding of what they learned.
More importantly, the Linh Chiểu Smart Classroom became the foundation of our AI Learning Intelligence Platform.
The insights gained from real classrooms continue to shape a future where education is more inclusive, personalized, and driven by evidence—one classroom at a time.
